USB 3 flash drive not detected, USB 2 is okay

Having same issues as: https://support.plugable.com/t/usb-3-0-hub-does-not-recognize-usb3-only-usb2/10415

On a particular computer (Biostar TZ68K+ motherboard) the USB 3 memory sticks does not get recognized when inserted, but USB 2 are okay. With the USB 3 installed I can disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to the computer then the USB 3 stick is recognized and works normally.

Moving this to another computer / laptop is all works normally.

If this helps, per Biostar webiste the USB uses this: ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller

Hi Robert,

Thanks for reaching out to pluggable support.

Looking into that issue that you’ve linked, it looks like one step that was tried was to remove the USB host driver on the computer and reinstall it.

Here are a few steps, which should help out with this process, if you’re unfamiliar:

Uninstalling the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 Controller:

  1. Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select “Device Manager” from the menu.

  2. Expand the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” category by clicking on the arrow to the left of it.

  3. Find the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller in the list of devices.

  4. Right-click on the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller and select “Uninstall device” from the context menu.

  5. If prompted, check the box next to “Delete the driver software for this device” and click “Uninstall”.

  6. Once the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller has been uninstalled, restart your computer.
Reinstalling the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 Controller:

  7. Download the latest ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller driver from the manufacturer’s website.

  8. Open the downloaded file and follow the instructions to install the driver.

  9. Once the driver installation is complete, restart your computer.

  10. Open the Device Manager again by pressing the Windows key + X and selecting “Device Manager”.

  11. Expand the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” category and check that the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller is listed.

  12. Right-click on the ASMedia ASM1042 USB 3.0 controller and select “Properties” from the context menu.

  13. In the Properties window, click on the “Driver” tab.

  14. Verify that the driver version and date match the version you installed.

Thank you for giving us a chance to help.
