I just purchased a Nexigo N930AF webcam that should just be able to plug via USB. When I try to plug into the docking station, my computer does not recognize the webcam. It does recognize when I plug directly to the computer, but I don’t have enough USB slots for that and would prefer to use the docking station.
Hi Katie,
Thank you for posting! I am sorry things are not working as expected while using your webcam in conjunction with your Plugable UD-3900 docking station and I would be happy to help.
Thank you as well for the detail you provided and the troubleshooting that you have already performed that is much appreciated.
Based on your description of the behavior, I have a few quick questions for you:
-
Do you have any other USB devices connected to the UD-3900 docking station (for example a USB keyboard or USB mouse), and if so, are they working properly?
-
If the answer to question #1 is ‘yes’, if you disconnect the ‘working’ USB device from the dock and connect the webcam to the same USB port within the dock that the ‘working’ device was previously connected to, does the webcam now work as expected?
-
There are a total of six USB ports within the UD-3900 dock. Two USB 3.0 ports on the front of the dock, and four USB 2.0 ports on the back of the dock. Can please try connecting the webcam to each of the six USB ports (one at a time of course) to see if the behavior changes? The intent is to determine if a specific port within the dock is a contributor to the behavior.
Apologies again for the frustration, and thank you for giving us the chance to help!
Bob
