Analog Audio Cutting Out

Hello,
Using this new dock with a new Dell Latitude 5530 with win10. New windows install and minimal software installed.

When audio is output to analog speakers from the jack on the front of the dock, there is sporadic audio skipping and stuttering. It is triggered by computer activity, for example scrolling through a word dock, or moving a window from one screen to another screen. This is not cpu or ram related as it will happen after booting with nothing running and plenty of free resources.

To note if I change the audio output in windows to the laptops built in speakers the issue is not present. Therefor I cannot see it being a laptop issue. It only occurs when I change the audio output to the pluggable analog.

I have the recommended DisplayLink Software 10.2 M4 drivers from the plugable site installed as well.

And help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Ken,

Thanks for contacting us! I am sorry this is not working as expected.

Based on your description of the behavior, our first step is to get some additional information from your system to check for any out of date drivers or software that may be affecting the docking station’s audio out capability. Please note, drivers provided by either the system manufacturer or Windows Update may be up to two years out of date, and may not be fully compatible with the installed version of Windows. Due to this I often recommend installing drivers from the component manufacturer’s website.

If you would, please keep the dock connected to the computer with monitor(s) connected to the docking station, and 3.5mm headphone connection, then run and attach the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug ( http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug ) to an email to ‘support@plugable.com’ with the subject line ‘Ticket #391456 - Attention Pat’ as this will allow us to examine some log files from your system to help determine the next steps.

Thanks,

I am having the same issue with windows 11. I replaced the USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable with a USB 4 and the problem persists. If I bypass the docking station, the problem goes away. I am running Application Version 3.2.14.0 and Driver Version 10.3.6400.0 on the Plugable and a 12th gen i7 LG Gram computer

Hi Bill,

Thank you for contacting us, I am sorry this is not working as expected and I am happy to help!

If you would, please keep the dock connected to the computer with the speakers or headphones connected to the docking station and attach the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug ( http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug ) to an email to ‘ support@plugable.com ’ with the subject line ‘Ticket #391456 - billrichards665 - Attention Pat’ as this will allow us to examine some log files from your system to help determine the next steps.

Additionally, please let me know ( in the body of the above email ) if the audio cuts out if you physically touch or move the 3.5mm audio jack at the front of the docking station.

Thank you for these additional details, I look forward to your email and we can go from here.

Were you able to get a resolution for this issues?

Still actively troubleshooting it with support. At the moment narrowed it down to only occurring when a monitor is plugged into port 2 or 3. When I have no monitors connected or only have 1 monitor connected to port 1 the issue doesn’t occur.

You can get a usb to 3.5mm adapter for like $8 on Amazon, that worked for me as a work around as it uses it’s own hardware/driver.

I had really good luck working with Pat from support. We found the same as kmook that when only one monitor is plugged in audio works. As soon as Monitors 2 and 3 got plugged in problem returned. I ended up with a USB to 3.5 mm adapter as the “fix” to this problem. Now that I have three monitors running off my laptop with the ability to un-plug the One Thunderbolt connection and take the lap on the road is amazing.

Yeah same here, I just want the functionality to connect to my home office setup with 1 cable, I am fine with using an adapter if it fixes the issue - thanks for the input.

Experiencing the same issue here with a Galaxy Book2 Pro 360; an inexpensive adapter from Amazon (even plugged into the back of the Plugable Dock) fixes it as others noted.

Thank you everyone for your replies. We have been investigating these issues and have thus far been unable to reproduce them in our labs, but we are working closely with our engineers in order to escalate this odd audio behavior to find a permanent solution.

Thank you for your patience and we will be updating this thread as we know more.
