whenever i plugin the laptop to the plugable ud-3000 the screen scales are all off

Hi,

I have a ud-3000 with an external monitor attached to it. I’m using windows 10.

Every time I plug my computer into the ud-3000, the scaling and zoom of the screen are always a bit off. (see attached image)

This is happening on multiple different laptops, I’ve tried different screens, and I even tried to replace the whole ud-3000. It’s also happening on other display link ports.

To fix the scaling I have to sign out. even restarting doesn’t work, only signing out and signing back in.

Why is this happening? How can we permanently fix it?

thanks

Hello Jacob,

Thanks for posting! Sorry to hear about this display scaling issue, I am happy to help.

Thank you as well for the troubleshooting you performed and including the screenshot that is much appreciated.

Display scaling issues like you describe can be tricky, given that the behavior is completely controlled by Windows itself (our dock can’t control this behavior). Unfortunately Windows doesn’t always do the best job of determining these settings automatically, and often results in less than optimal results and as you have discovered sometimes requires logging out and back in again to get things working as desired.

While we cannot guarantee a permanent fix for the behavior, we will certainly do our best to see if there may be workaround for this specific case. In order to do so, our next step is to get some additional information.

If you would, please keep the docking station connected and send the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug –> http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug to support@plugable.com with “For Ticket #206001” in the subject line. This will allow us to match things up and examine some log files from your system to help determine the next steps.

Thank you for giving us a chance to help!
