Hi Chris,

Thanks for posting your question here! If you are on OS X Lion, unless you explicitly set ‘External disks’ to show on the desktop in the Finder preferences, you would have to -:

  1. Open a new Finder window

  1. Click on ‘DISK IMAGE’ (it will be at the bottom right of the Finder window).

Here is how to set ‘External disks’ to show on the desktop in the Finder preferences on Lion-:

  1. Click on the top of the screen on the ‘Finder’

  2. Then click on ‘Preferences’ as shown in the screenshot below-:

  1. Once in ‘Preferences’, make sure that ‘External disks’ are selected as shown in the screenshot below-:

Once you have set it in the Finder preference, double clicking a dmg would mount this Disk Image on your desktop.
