Both the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 versions of the 7-port charging hub with 60W power adapter take 12V in. What’s the efficiency of the voltage conversion to 5V?
Hi Matt - I don’t have a specific measurement, but we use a relatively high efficiency buck converter circuit. So both much less waste vs. a typical linear regulator you might find commonly. Typically in the 85-95% efficiency range.
An efficient DC 12V -> 5V circuit is how we’re able to handle more power (60W) than most hubs without generating a ton of heat.
