What do I need to switch KVM between my PC and MacBook Pro 2017?

My PC is connected to my monitor via DisplayPort and my Macbook is connected to the same monitor via USB-C. I can switch between the two using the input selector on the monitor’s menu. Right now, I have 1 USB dongle for my wireless keyboard/mouse that I’m manually switching between my PC and Macbook Pro by pulling out the dongle from the PC and putting it in a USB-C to USB adapter for my Macbook Pro.

  1. Is there a KVM switch that works w/ my setup?
  2. If not, what about a USB switch for just the keyboard/mouse USB dongle since I can switch video via monitor menu?

Hi,

Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately, we currently do not offer any KVM switches. However, we do have USB switches that would allow you to swap the wireless keyboard and mouse with the push of a button.

Please see the product page for our Plugable USB 2.0 Sharing Switch (USB2-SWITCH2):
https://plugable.com/products/usb2-switch2/

You would simply connect the USB receiver to the USB 2.0 Type-A port on the switch, then connect your two computers with the included USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-B cables.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Mitchell
