and can i use macbook clamphell mode with this docking station?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! I’d be more than happy to assist you.

Your MacBook Pro model and OS version can support the UD-ULTCDL docking station. You will need to install the DisplayLink Manager driver software for macOS 10.15.x via this installation guide (https://kb.plugable.com/questions/799275) and ensure to properly set the macOS security permissions to allow the drivers to run.

Clamshell mode is not supported with macOS 10.15.7 with DisplayLink. Clamshell mode on Intel-based MacBooks was only introduced in macOS 12.x Monterey (https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1963276-clamshell-and-rotation-support-on-macos-with-displ).

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!
