The device was working fine but all of a sudden stopped working. I have tried reinstalling the drivers using the displaylink end user cleaner first but still not working.
It’s also not being recognised on the USB section in system information. Whenever I plug it in the allow usb dialog dissapears instantly not giving me the chance to allow ( I have changed the settings to always allow, but still not working).
Thank you for contacting Plugable! I’m sorry the USBC-6950U isn’t working as expected, and I’ll be happy to assist.
The adapter not being detected in the USB section of your Mac’s System Report (especially with the security setting set to "Always Allow) is usually a sign that the adapter is either in an error state, or that it’s no longer working correctly.
The first steps we’ll want to take are to perform a power-cycle of the unit to reset its internal hub chipset. We’ve seen that this can often restore the adapter back to a working state when one or more of its functions are not quite working. To do this, please follow these steps:
Disconnect USBC-6950U from host computer
Leave unplugged for 1 minute for power to dissipate
While it’s unplugged, reboot your computer
Connect USBC-6950U to host machine, then test for functionality
In case the issue continues after following these steps, our next step would be to send you a pretested replacement unit under the two year warranty for USBC-6950U. To proceed with this process, can you please send an email to our direct support email address (support@plugable.com) with “For ticket # 473690” in the subject line? In the email, please include the following information:
The Amazon/Walmart/Newegg/eBay Order ID number for your docking station purchase
The serial number from the label on the bottom of the adapter
Your full name and shipping address
