Greetings, I would like to create a charging station for my kids and purchased the USB3 7 Port Hub for them to plug in their devices. With that said, the hub is plugged into the wall but NOT to a computer. Can the hub work without plugged into a computer? If no, is there another hub I can purchase which can charge devices without plugging into a computer? Thanks Karen

Thanks for getting in contact with us, I’m happy to answer your question regarding our USB3-HUB7-81X and charging devices.

Unfortunately, USB hubs are not chargers and are not designed to be stand-alone chargers. If you attempt to create this type of setup, you will likely be disappointed in the performance. In addition, not all devices will recognize an unconnected hub as a charger. For a more depth explanation about why this is the case, I would encourage you to take a look at our Charging Adapter product description (http://plugable.com/products/usb-mc1). If you want to create a charging station, I would advise you to look for a product that is marketed solely as a charging device.

As far as Plugable products are concerned, if you are looking to charge multiple devices I would suggest you use the power adapters that come with the devices and something like our Plugable 12 Outlet Power Surge Protector (http://plugable.com/products/ps12-usb2).
