USB3.0 SLOW BOOT for Windows 7 system

I have a plugable USB 3.0 HDD Docking Station (Model # USB3-SATA-U3) hooked into USB 3.0 port on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO motherboard.

I had always had a drive in the unit, had no problems. Recently I booted with the plugable dock power on, but no drive inserted. It took two hours for my system to boot. It took me noticing a drive error in the event log before I realized it was the plugable unit causing the problem.

Turned the power off on the plugable and the system booted in 30 secs.

Is there any firmware to update on this device to solve this annoyance?

For others who are interested: This behavior can’t be changed with the SATA dock, if there’s no drive in the dock upon boot, the BIOS in some machines will hang up. Power off the dock to resolve the issue.

Thanks,
Jerome.
