USB3.0 Adapers do not fit in PCI slots.

The 2 plugable technolgies UBB 3.0 adapters do no fit any of the PCI slots in my 2 Dell highend computers. The plastic piece on the end of the pinslots do not allow the adapter card to be inserted. I have dual and quad processors and the adapters do work on any of the PCI slots…

Hi Alan,

Thanks for posting your question here! The Plugable PCI Express to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Two-Port Expansion Card requires a PCIe x1 slot on the system. This card cannot be used with a PCI slot.

Could you post back and let us know the exact models of Dell systems you have and how many PCIe (not PCI) slots are available is each system?

Regards,
Roze

  1. Dimension 8400 6 slots Did find proper slot finally.

  2. XPS420 6 slots. the slot needed is taken up by the WAN card from the factory

Alan

Alan,

Glad to know that you were able to find the right slot on the Dimension 8400! The technical specifications of XPS420 show three PCIe slots-: one x1, one x16 and one x8 (electrically configured for an x4 card).

As the x1 slot is not available, if the x8 (electrically configured for an x4 card)slot is available, you could try plugging in the Plugable PCI Express to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Two-Port Expansion Card into that slot to see if it works.
