USB to Network connectivty between MacBook Pro (USB) and Drobo FS (network only)

Have an older Drobo FS NAS, which only has a network connector, worked great with older MacBook Pro 17", but now have a new MacBook Pro 15" that no longer has any network ports. Does anyone know if Mac will recognize Drobo FS if connected via a USB adapter?

Not in a mood to buy a new NAS box, was hoping to find a better solution for an already on-hand hardware.

TIA.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for posting this question! I’d be happy to assist.

We have either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapters, and both support Mac OS X. As long as the Drobo FS supports the Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, which I think it does, either one should work fine. Since New MacBook Pro supports USB 3.0, I’d recommend using our USB3-E1000 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter for the best performance:

Please install the latest driver for this adapter:

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you needed any additional questions at support@plugable.com at any time.
