USB Serial Converter fails on OS X El Capitan even with new 1.6.0 driver

I have a Pluggable USB Serial Converter (D10-00110815) and I’m unable to get it to work reliably since I upgraded to OS X El Capitan. I have tried the new “Mac OS X Universal Binary Driver v1.6.0” but it doesn’t work. I can sometimes get the port to work once, but have to physically unplug and replug it after each use (open/close connection.) The adapter has worked fine in the past, but is now virtually useless.

In looking in the System Console, I see entries like this:

11/23/15 1:59:06.000 AM kernel[0]: me_nozap_driver_PL2303()::allocateResources - open data interface failed.

Hi Wayne,

Thank you for posting about your serial adapter. I’m sorry it isn’t working for you.

It looks like there may be a conflict with another driver for the same chip.

We have a troubleshooting program that can show me what is going on. Could you please run it and send the results directly to us at support@plugable.com?

With the serial adapter plugged in, just go to this link and follow the instructions there:

http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

Please mention ticket #125258 in the subject line.

Thanks!

This issue was resolved by removing the kext file with the driver for another adapter with a similar chip.
