USB Keyboard stops working

I have the UD-ULTC4k docking station connected to a Dell XPS15 9570 and recently the keyboard I am using Steelseries Apex M750 stops working. Power is still getting to the keyboard (back-lit keys are still on) but nothing typed is transmitted. If I unplug and replug the keyboard into the docking station it will start working again. If I plug the keyboard directly into a free USB port on the laptop there is never any interruption.

Hello Jason,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.

We’ve got an FAQ item on our website that may help with this problem:

Problem: My wired (or wireless) mouse and/or keyboard are experiencing lag/latency (jumpy/jerky mouse pointer movement, missing key-presses, duplicate key-presses, etc) when connected to the dock.
Solution: Dell released a patch that changes a Windows Registry entry related to the Intel Management Engine that is not Dell exclusive which has resolved these issues for several of our customers using a range of different host systems from different manufacturers. We recommend to try installing this patch if you have some of the aforementioned issues:
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03471411M/13/Dell_Dock_USB_TYPE-C_PATCH_2K0JJ_A00_SETUP_ZPE.exe

Your issue is admittedly a little different since it stops working completely, but this Dell patch is worth a try just to rule it out. If this doesn’t help please let me know and we can go from there.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!
