USB hub and multiple UD-160 devices

Please excuse my ignorance in USB matters. How much of the available USB (2.0?) bandwidth does the UD-160 use? Can I run a single (long) cable from the server to a USB hub and connect multiple UD-160 devices to the hub for multiseat? If so, how many clients could a single USB cable/connection serve? (I’m planning to use Fedora for all this if it matters at all.)

On a somewhat related note what’s the difference between UD-160-A and UD-160-M?

Hi Gergely,

Thanks for contacting us, we’re happy to help. You’ll be able to run about 7 seats on the one USB connections. For web browsing and light usage, there’s plenty of bandwidth for all seats. If multiple seats want to play full screen video or games, you’ll start to notice performance limits.

Let us know how it goes, or if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Jerome.

Hi Gergely,

The answer to your question about the difference between the UD-160-A and the UD-160-M is that they are physically the same, with different name for marketing purposes. We found that the multiseat feature set added confusion for people who were just interested in a docking station so we split it off logically, but it is the same device.

Thanks for asking! Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with!

Jerome.
