USB-C dock usb devices don't always work

I’m using the USB-C docking station with a Chromebook. Fairly frequently, when I plug the dock in, the keyboard and mouse that I have plugged into the dock don’t work–I can see the cursor, but the mouse doesn’t move. This obviously renders the dock somewhat useless. Plugging and unplugging the devices from the dock doesn’t work, although it does sometimes make the video go blank. Unplugging and plugging the dock from the Chromebook has always gotten it back, but sometimes it takes many tries.

Is this something that you are aware of? Any ideas?

BTW, here is a dmesg log of the thing failing to scan the USB bus:

Hello Ted,

Sorry to hear about this issue. Can you tell me which USB-C dock you have? We have two models. The UD-ULTCDL and the UD-CA1.

Thank you,
Joshua Henry
Plugable Technologies

Oops, sorry. It’s the UD-CA1.

Thanks for the information. I have handed this issue over to Patric who is our expert on the UD-CA1 and he should be in touch again shortly.
