USB C Camera has to be unplugged between connections

I recently purchased the USBC-9IN1E to connect my Macbook Pro to my monitor and camera. I’m using a Logitech Streamcam that has a USB C connection. If I unplug my laptop and then plug it back in again, the camera does not connect and does not show in System Information. When I disconnect just the camera and reconnect it with the laptop still connected to the hub, then it shows up and works.

This is very frustrating since I put the hub in a channel under my desk to avoid cable clutter. Now I have to keep in on my desk in order to do this workaround.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.

To begin I would be curious to know if you have any other USB devices that are connected, or could be connected as a test, and to see if other USB devices are also having this issue through the USBC-9IN1E like your webcam? If you aren’t using any other USB devices at the moment I of course do understand.

Note: We unfortunately don’t have a Logitech Streamcam to test this behavior from our side, but we do have some other Logitech webcams we can test for this behavior.

Next, we have a troubleshooting tool that helps us find out what is going on in situations like this. If able, please plug the USBC-9IN1E with your webcam connected to it into your computer, then go to this page and follow the instructions there: http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug I can then take a look from a software perspective and see if anything stands out that could be causing this behavior.

Note: When emailing us the diagnostics for us to review (please do not post them here), please mention ticket # 479648 in the subject line so we can match things up.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!

Thanks, will send logs. Confirmed that I see the same behavior with a USB C card reader.
