Since my new laptop does not support the USB-C Alternate Mode, can I disable something so that I get normal HDMI/VGA?
Hi,
Thank you for contacting us, I am sorry, the docking station’s HDMI output port requires the host computer to support USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode. The two DisplayPort outputs rely on DisplayLink USB Graphics Technology and can be converted to support HDMI, DVI, or VGA using DisplayPort Graphics adapters, for example:
- For HDMI displays, our DisplayPort to HDMI Active Adapters ( https://plugable.com/products/dp-hdmi ) adapters can be used to support up to 3840x2160 (4K UHD) resolution with a compatible display.
- For DVI displays, we offer a DisplayPort to DVI Graphics Adapter ( https://plugable.com/products/dpm-dvif ) can support up to 1920x1200 with a Single-Link DVI-D compatible display.
- For VGA displays, our DisplayPort to VGA Graphics Adapter ( https://plugable.com/products/dpm-vgaf ) can support up to 1920x1200 resolution.
I am sorry, when connected to a computer without USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode capability this docking station can only support two displays connected to the DisplayPort outputs.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I am happy to help!
