USB 3.1 to DisplayPort resolution: is the 3840 x 2160 limit hardcoded?

I’m considering purchasing one of your USB-C to DisplayPort cables, however I have an LG 31MU97 display which has Cinema 4K resolution (4096 x 2160). Will this cable support that resolution if my GPU is capable of driving it, or is the 3840 x 2160 limit hard?

Thanks!

Hi Tony, thanks for posting! Without knowing the specific system you are using, I would expect our adapter to be able to display a 4096 x 2160 resolution assuming the GPU supports this resolution, as you mention. However, we only have one monitor (a ViewSonic) that is able to support this resolution in house, so I cannot guarantee with certainty as we have not tested with the LG monitor that you have.

If you do choose to proceed with a purchase, we offer a 30-day no hassle return policy via Amazon.com if you find that our cable does not meet your needs.

Thank you,
