Usb 3.0 conver for a PCI slot only shows USB 2.0

I inserted my 3.0 converter into a PCI slot- when I plug in a 3.0 card reader, it sates I’m only using USB 2.0 and I could upgrade to 3.0
Both the card reader and the converter are stated to be USB 3.0
Asus motherboard, M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
I can not find any way to turn on the PCI slot in the CMOS…???

Hi steinr96,

Thanks for posting your question here, we’ll try to help.

To use our PCI-e USB 3.0 card you’ll need to insert it in PCI-e 1X slot available on your motherboard. It looks like your motherboard has 1X, 4X and 16X slots available. Make sure you PCI-e USB 3.0 card is in a 1X slot.

Next, be sure to download and install the latest drivers here:
http://plugable.com/drivers/renesas/

Then try connecting a simple USB device like a mouse or keyboard to your PCI-e USB 3.0 card. Does it work? If so, you can try a USB 3.0 device and see if you are getting a USB 3.0 connection. If not, you’ll want to make sure that the device has the latest drivers and firmware for it installed and that you have a good USB 3.0 cable.

Let me know what you find.
Thanks,
Jerome.
