USB 2.0 ethernet adapter

I just received my plugable usb 2.0 ethernet adapter and I am trying to connect it to my new computer so I can give my old computer internet connectivity via the cath 5 cable that I plugged into the adapter since my new computer is hardwired to our network. I am not getting any response to the new computer and wondered if I needed to download drivers for the adapter. I am running Windows 7 on the old computer and Windows 8 on my new. I am wanting to trf some files off the old and need to be able to connect to the internet to do so. Please help!!

Hi Kathleen-

Thanks for posting with your question.

A simpler solution to this issue of needing to connect two computers to the same Ethernet cable is a network switch like one of these:

One “live” ethernet cable comes in, and 4 more go out.

To do with our adapter, you will need to both install the driver, then follow the steps described at the link below to bridge our adapter with the live network connection on the existing laptop.

Hope this helps, please let me know of any other questions.
