I have a samsung ativ 500t and was wondering if I can use this unit with a crossover ethernet cable to talk to other equipment. I am running windows 8

I’m pleased to report that currently shipping versions of all 3 of our USB Ethernet adapters support AutoMDIX Crossover detection so you can use either crossover or “normal” cables in both “normal” and “peer to peer” configurations.
This includes our USB2-E100, which is our most widely compatible adapter that even works with Wii, Wii U, some TiVo models, and some Android Devices:
