UD-ULTCDL 4k hdmi port not working on Windows 10

I had been using this dock with a Dell Precision 3510 running Windows 7 Professional and it worked with all 3 monitors connected. I just purchased a Lenovo YOGA C930 running Windows 10. All 3 monitors work on the 2K HDMI and DVI ports, but none work on the 4K HDMI port. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?
TIA!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.

Unfortunately we do not expect for the HDMI output to function. We’ve marked on our compatibility chart as such. There is a compatibility issue between this host system and our dock that causes the USB-C VESA DisplayPort Alternate Mode video output to not function correctly. Our dock relies on this technology for the HDMI output to function. I’m afraid that the Yoga C930 will only work with two of the three video outputs with our UD-ULTCDL and UD-ULTC4K dock models.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!

Hi Joshua,

Thanks for the assistance, I appreciate the quick response!
Does Plugable have a solution that would work with my new laptop and connect to my 3 monitors?
It can either be an add-on (I have a 2nd Thunderbolt port), or a replacement for my existing dock.

We don’t offer an all-in-one solution unfortunately. However, a third display can be added to any of our dual docks (or the dock you’ve already purchased) via a USB 3.0 graphics adapter like this one:

Hi Joshua,

I’ve returned that laptop and am now considering 2 possible replacements. Can you confirm for me if either of these will work for both power delivery and 3 monitors?

Option 1: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 3rd Generation - Silver Part Number: 20LFS06500
(Your compatibility sheet shows the 2nd Gen working, but does not show 3rd Gen)

Option 2: HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0020nr
(Your compatibility sheet shows some versions of this laptop working and some not. But this exact model is not listed)

I really appreciate your help!

Of your two models listed, the HP would be my choice. We’ve not tested that exact Spectre, unfortunately I’m unsure if it will be compatible. However, most newer Spectre models have been, the majority of issues were with the older models.

I wouldn’t recommend the Lenovo based on our overall poor experiences with many Lenovo models in the past, and Lenovo has been having issues with many systems (the model you’re looking at is listed): https://www.tomsguide.com/news/nearly-all-thinkpads-have-defective-usb-c-ports-what-to-do-now
