Hi,
- I realize that the UD-ULTCDL is a better desktop solution for this, but I’d prefer to wait for the release of the UD-ULTC4K. So humour me please
In the meantime, I like the idea of the UD-CAM for travel purposes regardless. Plus, I already have your UGA-2KHDMI adapter.
So, I’m wondering if I can I plug that adapter into a UD-CAM to add a 2nd 1080p monitor as an interim solution to get dual (external) monitors at home?
(I have already confirmed with your people that the UD-CAM is compatible with my laptop - the Huawei Matebook X Pro).
-
I need a longer cable between the UD-CAM and the laptop. What is the specification of that cable?
-
Any news on when the UD-ULTC4K is likely to make an appearance?
TIA.
Gary
Hi Gary,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us, I would be more than happy to assist!
It is certainly possible and compatible to connect a UGA-2KHDMI adapter to our UD-CAM, and will only require you to download and install the DisplayLink drivers for the device on the system the UD-CAM is connected. The UD-CAM does not utilize DisplayLink drivers, so you should not run into any configuration issues with them both connected.
The UD-ULTC4K is already available, and has been for quite some time, you can find out where to purchase it in your region here → https://plugable.com/products/ud-ultc4k
In regards to a longer cable for the UD-CAM, this is possible, but the cable included with the dock has very specific features, so not all USB-C cables will be compatible. We do sell our own extended 20GBPS Thunderbolt 3 cable that has all of the right features, and is 2M in length. You can read more about it, as well as where to purchase it here → https://plugable.com/products/tbt3-20g2m/
I hope this information helps, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns, and I would be more than happy to assist.
Thank you for your patience,

Thanks for that Marc.
The reason I thought the UD-ULTC4K was not yet released is that’s what it says at the bottom of your product page (https://plugable.com/products/ud-ultc4k).
