Hi, I have a Windows 10 / Dell XPS (Intel/Nvidia chipset) laptop and the UD-3900 with a Samsung monitor (HDMI). Right now the monitor is hooked up to the Plugable via HDMI. The second monitor is not detected by Win10 laptop, however, the laptop screen is duplicated to the monitor. I installed the following driver (DisplayLink+USB+Graphics+Software+for+Windows+8.4+M2.exe) prior to plugging it in. Is there something I’m missing regarding getting the external monitor to be properly detected?
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for reaching out to us, I am sorry this is not working as expected.
It sounds like Windows has put the monitor into duplicate mode, we can check this and enable extended mode by performing the following:
- Close or minimize any active programs or documents
- Right-click on the desktop and select “Display Settings” from the drop down menu
- The diagram under “Select and rearrange displays” should show [1|2] to indicate the displays are in mirrored mode ( please let me know if this is not correct )
- Scroll to the bottom of this window and select “Extend these displays” from the drop-down menu under “Multiple Displays”
Please let me know if this helps to put the monitors into extended mode, if not we can proceed from here.

Hi Pat, Under Display Settings, Win10 only detects a single display, the laptop display. There are no options for extending the display. !](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1730037/2018-05-14_inline.png?1526322165)](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1730037/2018-05-14.png?1526322165)
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for providing the screenshot! The Intel HD Graphics Control Panel will not show the DisplayLink Indirect monitor connected to the docking station. Windows manages the display settings through the Settings panel, to access this:
- Right-click on the desktop and select “Display Settings” !](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1730043/01_DropDown_inline.PNG?1526323497)](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1730043/01_DropDown.PNG?1526323497)
- The monitors should be shown at the top of the settings window

Please let me know if this helps,
Pat
