UB-3900 Windows 10 jumping displays

I have just installed the updated DisplayLink 7.9 M4 (twice, used EndUserCleaner7.9.723 both times) to try and resolve an ethernet issue (wifi works fine), but now the display is jumping, it detects the 2 displays, my Acer laptop display (Intel HD 4000) and the monitor i have into the UB-3900, and then changes the resolution and jumps which is display 1 vs 2 and pops around in about a 1 second pattern. the mouse also jumps making its use impossible.

this was all working great a few days ago.
