Two new 1440p monitors, both connected via DP, only monitor connected to UD-ULTC4K port #2 works - the one connected to port #1 does not. When I connect it to port #3 it works. Isn’t port #1 configured differently (and a better signal)?
Hi Peter,
Thank you for contacting Plugable! I’m sorry the UD-ULTC4K isn’t working as expected, and I’ll be happy to assist.
The DISPLAY 1 outputs use DP Alt mode from the laptop to produce video on the connected displays as opposed to the DisplayLink technology used for the DISPLAY 2 and 3 ports, so there can be some slight performance difference with the display connected to this port.
That said, there’s a few possible reasons why this port may not output video while the other two work fine. I have some questions to help narrow down what could be going wrong:
-
Are you using the USB-C cable that was originally included in the package with the dock to connect it to your laptop? I ask because we’ve seen issues with other cables in the past.
-
Can you please provide the brand and specific model number of your laptop so we can check its specifications? Here’s the steps for collecting this information in case you don’t have it on hand:
-
Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard
-
In the Run window, type msinfo32 and press Enter
-
The System Information window will open
-
Make sure System Summary is selected on the left
-
On the right side, look for System Model
-
Copy the System Model value and send it to us
-
Please let me know if you have any questions as well.
My apologies for the trouble, and thank you for giving us the chance to help.
Sam
