Turn off hub when Windows shuts down.

I have 5 2.5 “non-green” drives connected to a powered 7 port hub. Unfortunately the drives stay powered on and spinning when the computer is turned off.

Do you have a product that will turn off power to the hub when windows shuts down?

Right now I have to unplug the hub.

Thanks

Hi Donald-

Drive sleep behavior is purely a function of the drive: some drives such as the WD passport series have a capability to spin down after a certain user-defined time.

To answer your question more directly, no, there isn’t a product we can recommend to avoid needing to turn off/unplug the hub.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hi Donald-

I should also mention that both our 7 and 10 port USB hubs will spin down drives on system sleep, and they will resume when the PC wakes. One simple alternative might be to have your system sleep or hibernate instead of shut down.

Hope this helps!
