Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Adapter too hot

Hi, I have the Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI adapter plugged into my Dell XPS 13. I have 2 monitors connected with HDMI cables at 1080p resolution. The device works great but it gets so hot I can barely touch it. Is this normal? Does the type of HDMI cable make a difference? Any suggestions would be great, until then I will continue to heat my office with it

Thanks!

Hi Brad,

Thanks for posting! The aluminum enclosure of our Thunderbolt 3 Dual Display HDMI adapter can get warm to the touch while operating, so the behavior you describe is expected (of course understood that the definition of β€˜warm’ can vary). To your follow-up question, the type of HDMI cable in use will not change this behavior.
