TBT4-UDZ doesn’t work

I’m on the latest of macOS 10.14 Mojave on an Intel 2018 MacBook Pro 15 inch. I’ve not upgraded on this machine for compatibility reasons but I wanted a dock that works with this machine as well as newer thunderbolt 4 devices.

This dock looked good to me as it has drivers for old and new OS versions (I installed the appropriate driver and restarted my laptop), however when I plug it into my laptop, none of the ports work, with the exception of the charge-only USB 2.0 port. Yes it is connected to wall power.

One thing that does seem to work is the charging of the laptop via the dock - it stays fully charged while connected.

It’s my understanding that Thunderbolt 4 docks should work with older systems that support Thunderbolt 3. What am I doing wrong?

You have to ensure that the dock is definitely compatible with Thunderbolt 3 systems like your MacBook Pro. Even though Thunderbolt 4 is supposed to work with Thunderbolt 3, sometimes there can be specific compatibility issues.
