TBT2 -> USB-C cord, hub, or adapter

Hi,

I have a Macbook pro 2013 with Thunderbolt 2 ports. I’d like to use the TB2 ports for a webcam that uses USB-C, and peripherals (keyboard, mouse) that use USB type A. There are enough ports to use separate cables for each item, but a hub would be more convenient if there’s no degradation when using the web cam. It would also be nice to use one of the TB2 ports for a monitor, but that’s lower priority.

Any suggestions on products that may support this?

Thanks,

Oski

Hi Oski,

Thanks for reaching out to Plugable support! I’d be happy to help with that.

I’m sorry to say that we do not have any solutions for connecting USB devices to a Thunderbolt 2 port.

Thank you for giving us a chance to help.

Thanks, Richard.

Could you suggest (not officially recommend) other sites or resources that might help me find what I need?

I see a lot of listings for tb2 → usb-c cordss, but they’re all intended for displays. My understanding is they don’t provide adequate data transfer speeds for webcams and other items.

Hi Oski,

Thanks for the update.

Most people today utilize Thunderbolt 2 connectivity as mostly a display connection due to its compatibility with DisplayPort connections.

Well, it is also compatible with the FireWire specs unfortunately I have not personally seen any devices that utilize the digital connectivity of Thunderbolt 2 outside of display Connections.

Sorry that we could not be more helpful.
