Hi Steve,
Thanks for reaching out to us, I am happy to help!
The “Display Connection might be limited” message will normally occur when a USB-C graphics adapter requiring DisplayPort Alternate mode, an optional USB-C feature, is connected to a USB port that does not support this mode.
I would not expect to see this message on a system that is compatible with our USB-C docking stations. I would be happy to dive a little deeper into this and get some additional detail on both the computer and docking station, as well as your setup, to see if there is an incompatibility or if this message is coming up in error. Please feel free to let me know the manufacturer name and model number of the computer, as well as the specific model of the docking station. The docking station’s model name can be found on the label on the bottom of the dock, or as the last part of the web address on the docking station, for example our UD-CAM USB-C Docking Station will have “plugable.com/ud-cam” on the bottom.
Windows does include an option to disable USB device error notifications, however this may also prevent some useful messages from being displayed.
To disable this messaging in Windows 10:
- Select the Start button > Settings (cog icon) > Devices > USB
- Uncheck the box next to “Notify me if there are issues connecting to USB devices”
Additional details on these types of messages can be found here ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4012609/windows-10-fix-usb-c-problems ).
Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I am happy to help!
