[solved]USB microscope not recognized on linux

I have previously connected Plugable USB microscope to Linux computers including the Raspberry Pi using “guvcview” without problems. Now, using the current Raspbian Jessie on an RPi 3b or Linux Mint 19 on an x86-64k, the microscope is not recognised by “lsusb” and the console reports “Guvcview error no video device found”. Is a special module required or something of the sort?

Edit: Working now on Mint…may have been a connection issue.

To be honest, it sounds like the microscope may not be functioning properly. Have you tried testing it with a previously known-good configuration, possibly on an Windows machine?

Drivers for the Etron chip in the microscope have been in the kernel for quite some time, so support for most distros should be present.
