Should the USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter work on a WiiU?

I tried plugging this adapter into the USB port on my WiiU and I don’t get any link lights and the WiiU doesn’t recognize it. Should this work or is it not a supported adapter?

Hi Melissa - Thanks for posting!

I’m sorry I have bad news – Nintendo supports only particular USB Ethernet adapters in the WiiU, and there are no USB 3.0 Ethernet adapters among them, only USB 2.0 adapters.

The one we recommend is our Plugable USB2-E100, because it’s well supported by both the original Wii and the WiiU. Here’s the product and how to buy:

Thanks. I need the USB 3.0 adapter for copying larger files faster so I’ll keep it. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Even if you find a USB 3.0 adapter that works with your Wii U, it will not be any faster than a USB 2.0 adapter. The USB slots on the wii are all USB 2.0 so you’ll never get anything faster than USB 2.0 speeds
