setting up one pair of monitors to be swappable between two different computers

I have a Surface Pro 4 (work) and a laptop (personal). I’d like to see if there’s a way to connect each of them to the same pair of 24" monitors. I wouldn’t necessarily have to have both machines usable at the same time; more that I’d like to have all of this set up on one desk and use whichever I needed when I needed it.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your post! There is definitely a way to do this! I would recommend using our USB 3.0 Switch ( https://plugable.com/products/usb3-sw… ) with one of our USB 3.0 docking stations.

For two monitors, up to 1080p (HD) resolution, our UD-3900 docking station would work ( https://plugable.com/products/ud-3900/ ) with your Surface and potentially your personal laptop. If the personal laptop is running Windows as well, we will easily be able to switch between these computers via the switch.

We also have other docking stations available depending on features or use cases that you are looking to fulfill. You can find our full product line here: https://plugable.com/products/

If you have any further questions or are using macOS or Linux in this setup, please send a message to support@plugable.com with Ticket #228169 in the subject line and we’d be happy to help!

Thanks,
