I have a surge protector from another company that I bought in 2008. It only protects against 1080 joules. How much better is the 12 port surge protector with 2 usb ports that offers 4,320 joules of protection? If you leave it plugged in during a lighting storm?

With that being said, the general rule is that the more joules of protection the better.
