problem with xp-win7 transfer connection

I am trying to use the transfer cable between a laptop & a desktop… LT is running Win7, DT is XP… softtware is loaded on both, anti virus disabled on both, cable connected… got an error message on the XP unit saying “fatal error starting” or something like that… now both are just sitting on the “Connect Both Computers” page with “Waiting for connection” at the bottom… where do i go from here??

Hi Sam,

Thank you for contacting us about your Windows transfer cable. I’m sorry you are having troubles with it.

It seems like there is a problem with the cable, or an installation problem on the XP computer.

Could you please try changing the cable end-for-end and see if the same problem now happens on the other computer? If it does, one of it’s ends is bad, and we will send you a replacement cable.

Otherwise, it is a problem with the installation on the XP computer. If that is the case, we have a troubleshooting tool that can help find out what is going on. Please go to this page, and follow the instructions there:

http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

It will create a zip file on your desktop with your computer name. Please send that to us at support@plugable.com.

Please let me know how it goes.
