Pre-sales question on HP Spectre (the new Kaby Lake one)

Hi guys,

I’m desperately trying to source a dock that will work with the very new Kaby Lake edition HP Spectre X360 (13-w023dx).

I gather certain docks are deemed not compatible but as this Spectre is brand new (only released last month) I wonder if anyone has braved on of your fine docks with it.

I’m really looking for an all in one dock with power in as well as HDMI or DVI to a 4k display via the USB-C TB3 connector.

Failing that I wonder if your regular usb-c to HDMI 2.0 adapter will play nice with this laptop so I can at least get video out and just get a separate port replicator and use my standard HP charger with it.

Ideas always appreciated.

We have yet to test the HP Spectre X360 with Thunderbolt 3 with our products (our test unit is on order) so while we cannot guarantee compatibility with our products, we have had one customer report that our UD-ULTCDL Triple Display Docking station (http://plugable.com/products/ud-ultcdl) does work properly and charge with it -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-re…Our Triple Display dock supports one monitor up to 4K@30Hz and two additional 1080P displays so it would appear that this would meet your needs.

Really appreciate the quick reply. As I’m in Canada finding the UD-ULTCDL is a tough job (not on Amazon.ca), would this one work also i.e. share the chipset minus additional ports?

To your question about our single display USB Type-C dock (known as the UD-CA1), we have not had any reports from customers about their results with the new HP Spectre so we cannot guarantee compatibility. Should you wish to try the UD-CA1 and find it does not work or meet your needs, we do offer a 30-day no-hassle return policy. Thanks. So I decided to go with a simpler solution as none of your docks appear to output 4k/60hz, I got one of your USB-C to HDMI adapters for the HP Spectre and it works beautifully. Until you get a dock that can properly output at native resolution without displaylink nonsense I’ll stick with the inconvenience of multiple adapters.

First world problems for sure :slight_smile:
