Can I use this for RS485 serial connection? If so, what is the DB9 pin assignment? Does the Android driver support RS485 connection?

RS-232 and RS-485 use a different method of representing logical ones and zeros, so there is no pin-to-pin correspondence between the two. You would need to get an adapter specifically designed for RS-485. This may be difficult for an Android device, because if the driver for a particular adapter is not already supported in an Android device, it is nearly impossible to add after the fact.

Yes, but to do that, it would probably need a different interface chip than the one we use.
