So I recently purchased a USB Audio Adapter, so that I can use my in ear headphones, SoundMagic E10S (https://www.whathifi.com/soundmagic/e10s/review). These connect to the adapter via the headphones own splitter cable that came with the headphones. The headphones are TRRS, and the splitter takes the in and out to TRS.
The device is connected and detected by Windows 10 fine. I then use the device in MS Teams, and I can hear people, but they cannot hear me.
The diagnose the issue, I have used Audacity to record me speaking, and I can see the the input is only received on one channel, the right side.
Just to check the headphones, I have run the same test with the headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack on my laptop, and recorded via Audacity. Mic input signal is recorded on both channels. I have no way to test the splitter cable that is shipped with the headphones.
Any ideas as to why the mic input is not split across both channels?
Thanks for reaching out to us about this. I’m sorry for the trouble here, and I’d be glad to help you. Just so I am clear, you are using the included splitter to connect to each respective jack? We definitely want to make sure to do that. I’d like to try and get some further details about the situation to provide you with the best support:
If we could, I’d like to take a look at a diagnostic of your computer with the adapter plugged in. That may shed some light on the situation.
Once everything is set up, please download and run our diagnostic from this link: https://plugable.com/support/plugdebug/. A folder with the results will be placed on your desktop after running the tool. You’ll need to reach out to us directly at: support@plugable.com and attach the folder to your email for us to review it.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I was able to test the headphones with the splitter on another machine. When I ran audacity for that, I could see that the mic input was only happening for one channel on that as well, so its my guess that it is the splitter that is causing the issue. I purchased a USB audio adapter that accepted TRRS, so didnt need the splitter, and this did the job.
The plugable device will sit in the draw for another day then…
Thanks for the reply. Ah, I’m really sorry about that! To be clear, our adapter is compatible with TRS. We’d be glad to help you with order support. Reach out to us directly with your Amazon order number at: support@plugable.com. We’ll be there to help you!
