Plugable USB 2.0 to VGA / DVI / HDMI Video Graphics Adapter

This item is 2 months old. It stopped working. We have tried different ports, different laptops, we have checked each and every connection multiple times. We have rebooted the laptops.

It worked fine for a few weeks. Then it started having “loose” connections in which the monitor showed pink or blue. Resetting the connection would fix the problem. Two days ago, the connection did not work, but plugging and unplugging all the connections finally got it going and it worked all day.

Yesterday, it would not work at all, no matter how many times each connection was tested. Once or twice, it would work long enough to flash on the monitor and then nothing more.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Thank you for joining our forums and for reaching out to Plugable support, we are always happy to help with your questions.

Since our USB docking stations and adapters require the DisplayLink software on your computer to be working correctly, we find that removing and reinstalling the software often fixes issues with these devices not working correctly so I’ll ask you to try these steps first if you haven’t already.

Please run through the following steps to remove and reinstall the DisplayLink software on your computer.

  1. Disconnect the dock from the system and please remove the power cable from the dock so it turns off completely. Please keep it disconnected until the last step.

  2. Uninstall any and all software with ‘DisplayLink’ in the title that is present from within the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Don’t worry if these entries are not present or if the process does not work, just move onto the next step

  3. Download, extract and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool, found here -->

  4. Once the Cleaner has been run, reboot (even if not prompted to)

  5. Now download and install the 9.2 M3 DisplayLink software, found here -->

  6. Reattach the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock is powered on, reconnect it to your system which will trigger the final portion of the installation

If that doesn’t fix the situation, please let us know and I’ll follow up by email to ask for further details about your system and Amazon order.

Good morning, Andrew

  1. There is no power cable. Just a cord to the big monitor and a USB cord to the laptop.

  2. I disconnected the cord to the laptop and followed the instructions above but it still is not working.

  3. Please advise.

Is anybody there?

I think this adapter does not work.

Hi Erica,

Thanks for trying those steps and for getting back to us and I’m sorry that didn’t help. I’ll follow up with you directly by email to get more information about your setup and then update this thread when we know more.
