Plugable USB 2.0 to UGA fails after DisplayLink driver is installed

After installing the DisplayLink driver onto Windows 7, the system starts to run a little slow. I restarted the computer and got a blue screen.

I am using the latest driver from DisplayLink. Just purchased this product and received it today.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting here! Could you run the DisplayLink Support Tool (instructions from http://plugable.com/support/tools/dis…) with the Plugable UGA-165 connected to the system and email the .zip it generates to support@plugable.com with a link to this thread and your Amazon Order ID.

This will give us a better insight as to what is going on and how to resolve it.

Thanks so much for the quick response. After uninstalling previous adapter software, I was able to successfully use the product. It is working as expected. I would recommend as a previous user indicated to add some language to unsuspecting users about the need to uninstall other adapter drivers.

Great customer service!

Steve,

Thanks for the kind words! Glad to know that uninstalling the drivers of the non-DisplayLink based adapter from the system fixed the issue.

We do mention under ‘Drivers’ in the ‘Product Description’ on our amazon listing for this product at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AIJE9G that - “…USB graphics devices with different chipset drivers (MCT, SMSC, DisplayLink, etc.) should not be mixed on the same system”.

Thanks for your feedback! We will try to make this information more visible and clear on our listing and documentation so that future customers can be spared from having this experience.

If you ever need any help or information regarding any of our products, please do feel free to post back here or shoot us an email at support@plugable.com. We are here to help!
