Plugable USB 2.0 docking station and monitor experience...

I have a Mac 10.5.8 version. I recently got the plugable USB 2.0 docking station. I also got a ViewSonic LED 1080p Full HD monitor and the Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse (this combination was recommended @ amazon.com) I installed the drivers for plugable as well viewsonic. However, despite giving all the relevant connections, I wouldn’t just be able to use the monitor to see anything - it just gets a “No Signal” display :frowning: Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Ravindran,

Thanks for posting! Apple’s low-level APIs for graphics had a big shift between 10.5 and 10.6. That may be playing a part in what you’re seeing.

On DisplayLink’s Mac driver download page:
http://displaylink.com/support/mac_do…

You’ll notice that the latest driver (DisplayLink version 1.8) is for 10.6 and above only.

For the 10.5.* system you’re on, you’ll need to stay with the DisplayLink version 1.7 driver.

Can you confirm if that’s the version you have installed, and if there’s still trouble with 1.7?

By the way, DisplayLink’s Mac user manual has a lot of helpful information:
http://displaylinkmanuals.s3.amazonaw…

Thanks for letting us know!
Bernie

Bernie,

Thanks for the response!

I tried downloading the 1.7 version. The first thing is - it says installation is successful and also states I would need to restart my system. When I do that, I still see no difference.

The systems preferences -> Display is not pulling up the other display for the ViewSonic monitor.

Hi Ravi,

Let’s see what’s happening at the software level. Could you run DisplayLink’s support tool and email the .zip file it generates to support@plugable.com?

Here’s how:
http://plugable.com/support/tools/dis…

(the bottom half covers how on Mac).

Also, do you happen to have a Windows machine around to double-check the unit on? That’ll likely work, but it would be reassuring to confirm.

Thanks!
Bernie
