Plugable DisplayLink 4K and Macbook Pro continuously disconnects

I’m running macOS Sonoma 14.5 on a MacBook M2 Pro and I keep running into what seems to be random occurrences of the docking station disconnecting and reconnecting from the laptop for months. Initially I thought the issue was with using the DisplayLink software to enable dual monitors, so I removed the software and carried on with only a single monitor through HDMI on port #1 (ALT MODE). When the issue persisted with single monitor, I thought maybe the HDMI cable I was using could be the issue, so I switched to a DP 1.4 cable, and now that’s what I’m using as I’m connected to a Samsung G7 28’ (using a thunderbolt 4 cable - not the original cable, but the issues were the same with the original cables in my troubleshooting).

The docking station is connected to a power supply, and I read on a different thread that connecting it directly to the wall might solve the issue, but the issue still persists while plugged to the wall directly.

The occurrences seem to be fewer while on DP, but they still happen.

This does not happen with my Windows laptop (ThinkPad P1).

Is there anything else I can do to provide more information to this case? It’s frustrating to experience this considering the docking station is such a powerful tool.

Thanks

Hi Caio,

Thank you for contacting Plugable! I am sorry to hear that your docking station is not functioning as expected, and would be happy to provide additional support.

To help diagnose the issue, may I ask you to please keep the device connected to your laptop and everything still attached (even if not working as expected) and send us the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug? → https://plugable.com/pages/plugdebug

Once you have the logs, simply send an email to support@plugable.com with the subject line of “Ticket 438294” so that we can prioritize that case and match it to this inquiry.

Thank you for giving us the chance to help!
