one one monitor is getting recognized. USB-c port is working but the HDMI ports with the HDMI to USB-c cable is not being recognized
in order to get both monitors to function, i had to plug an external power supply via USB-c port in the monitor that had the HDMI to USB-c with DP. the second screen is USB-c to USB-c - no issue with this connection.
Hello Dave,
Thank you for reaching out on the forums! I am sorry to hear that you are running into issues with your TBT4-UD5, but I would be happy to help diagnose the issue here.
From your description, it sounds like you are attempting to go from HDMI on the dock to USB-C on the monitor. Is my assumption here correct?
If so, then this is unfortunately not possible, as you are not able to convert the HDMI signal to USB-C. It only works the other way around (USB-C source → HDMI display).
If your other monitor only supports USB-C input, then I am afraid that our TBT4-UD5 is likely not the best option for your setup. I would instead recommend our TBT4-UDX1 dock instead:

Same issue, but different setup. I have a Windows 11 Laptop and I’m simply trying to run 2 external displays both via the HDMI ports on the TBT4-UD5 to HDMI inputs on the Displays.
Only one Display works, if I disconnect HDMI 1, the HDMI 2 Display then works, reconnect HDMI 1, still only HDMI 2 works, disconnect HDMI 2 and HDMI 1 works again. Should be an easy plug and play. I have the latest DisplayLink drivers.
Any suggestions?
Hello Travis,
Off the problem behavior alone, this likely sounds like a compatibility issue here given that only one display will work at a time. This is usually indicative of the host not support Thunderbolt 4 on the USB-C port. If the port supports Thunderbolt 3 or just DisplayPort Alt Mode, it will not be able to support 2x displays on our TBT4-UD5.
Additionally, the TBT4-UD5 is not a DisplayLink dock, so it will not work with the DisplayLink drivers you mentioned.
Thank you,
Evan

Thanks for your reply.
You are correct. My wife plugged in her two work laptops running windows and her MacBook and all 3 laptops worked like a charm. Now you just need to design a switch product.
Just checking my detailed specs, you are spot on. Despite my laptop being pretty new it doesn’t have thunderbolt 4! It’s just a USB-C PD. You’re good. So no problem at all with your product. Since this setup was for my wife we’re all good.
Thanks again for your reply.
