Non-Existing 3rd Display

I have recently installed the pluggable UD-3000 USB 3.0 docking station. I have my laptop monitor and one other monitor connected via the DVI to VGA adapter. For some reason there is a 3rd display showing up that causes a “break” between the screens when I move windows between the two. Disconnecting either of the 2 extra displays does not fix the issues. Is there a way to only have 2 displays? This may sound petty but it really annoys me! Thanks for your help!

Hi Amy,

Thanks for asking, we’d be glad to help!

A couple of way we can try to fix this - right click anywhere on your desktop and select “screen resolution”. Here you should see your main and external monitor, and there is probably another “ghost” monitor visible here that might be grey. You can drag your existing monitors to a position where they’re next to each other, to avoid the break.

Also, let’s try resetting the dock to see if we can get rid of the ghost monitor:

  • Disconnect the dock from the computer
  • Disconnect the power adapter from the dock
  • Reboot the computer
  • Connect the dock to computer, and connect the power back to the dock

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks,
Ellen
