No power to laptop through usb-c 3.1 port

Docking station connected to HP envy x360 15t on the usb-c 3.1 port. Everything seems to work except no power being sent to laptop.

Hello John, thanks for posting and I will be happy to help.

Would you be able to let us know the model of docking station you are using? We offer a couple of different USB-C docking stations so I’d like to clarify the specific model you are using and determine first steps from there.

Thank you,

Hello John,

Thanks for the reply. In looking at the specifications of the HP Envy x360 15t (http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy…) it only mentions that the USB-C port supports “Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s.” However, I am unable to find an updated manual for the Envy x360 15t systems with USB-C ports but I would like to dig in further. Can you let us know the specific model/variation of the system you are using? HP has guides here –> https://support.hp.com/my-en/document… in order to find this information.

Thank you,

David W.

Hello John, thanks for the additional information. In looking at the manual here –> http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/… it seems that there’s a couple of different variations of ports for this system, and each diagram doesn’t seem to indicate that the computer’s battery can be charged using the USB-C port. On page 5 and page 6 of the PDF manual it mentions the below two details of the USB-C port:

!](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1690270/hpenvyusb-c1_inline.JPG?1515446256)](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1690270/hpenvyusb-c1.JPG?1515446256)

and

Based off of this, it seems that the port may be able to support charging external devices (like a phone or other USB powered device), but HP does not seem to mention if the system’s battery can charge via this port.

Thank you,

David,
I’ll check with HP to see if its possible for the port to charge the battery or not. If it can, they should also be able to tell me what settings need to be adjusted.
Even if it can’t charge the battery, the unit works great otherwise.
Thank you for all your help.
