No network connection

Network connection is not passing through when connected via USB via docking station. Drivers were installed prior to connecting. Rebooted laptop and docking station no change in behavior. only way to gain access to/from network is WiFi or by directly connecting the network cable to the laptop. Sign USB 3.0 Plug gable UD 3900 docking station.
