No Audio with Plugable Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Active Adapter

There is no audio (video OK) on either the tablet or the HDTV with the Plugable Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Active Adapter! Plus, the screen on the tablet goes completely black as soon as I plug in and the only way I can find to bring back the display is to remove the Adapter.
My system is a Microsoft Surface Book with Windows 10 Pro x-64 with all the latest updates.
I would appreciate your help.

Please note that the Plugable Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 Active Adapter does not appear to the right so I was forced to select one!

Thanks for the description of the behavior you are seeing. Would you be able to let us know the brand and model of TV you are connecting to?

Pending that information, can you let us know the device that is set as the Default Playback device within the Windows Sound settings?

Lastly, and if possible, does swapping the HDMI cable help change the behavior at all?

Please let us know this additional information whenever you have a moment and we will go from there.
